My name is Matthew Krysztopik. I am a music teacher based in Northern Virginia, and my goal is to enrich my students lives through the performance of music.
I developed a passion for music at a young age when I played around on my cousin’s drum set for the first time. Ten years later, I was studying percussion at George Mason University, marching in a drum corps, and teaching in every capacity I could. Currently, I am teaching music classes at a K-8 charter school in Washington DC, and teaching private music lessons to a studio of 18 students.
I believe that music is a necessary part of the human experience. Music teaches about other cultures, people, and most importantly, ourselves. It helps put our own emotions into perspective, and gives us a sense of meaning in confusing times. Through teaching music, I know I am helping my students express themselves in healthy ways. Music continues to facilitate learning and improvement in my life, and I hope that it can do the same for my students.
